Restore iPhone 3G, 3GS running 6.15.00 Baseband

For all of you that dont know how to restore iPhone 3G, 3GS on baseband 6.15.00 (iPad Baseband) Sherif Hashim ( Baseband Hacker )

Posted on http://www.hackint0sh.org this thread :

to restore ur iphone while already on 6.15.00 BB:
A) if u used pwnage tool then u ll have to create a /new/ custom 4.1 or 4.2.1 and say /no/ when u are offered the BB update to 6.15.00 since u already have it, then build the custom ipsw and restore to thatB) if u r using redsn0w, then: B-1) if u are currently on 4.1, then u can restore to official 4.1 again, and when u see error 1015 pop-up, u kick ur device out of recovery using umbrella, use redsn0w and /don't/ check "ipad BB update" because u already have that  B-2) if u are currently on 4.2.1 then u ll have to restore back to 4.1 (because 4.2.1 will not allow u to kick the phone out of recovery when 1015 occurs due to the silly BB / iOS mismatch check added there) , then do the same steps as B-1, if u want to go again to 4.2.1 your only way is to use a custom 4.2.1 done by pwnage tool in the same steps mentioned in A
n.b of course saved shsh for the 4.1 ipsw is an important prerequisite for iphone 3gs to restore back to that

Don't forget to save your SHSH blobs because as you know you can't downgrade to any previous iOS firmware because apple stopped signing them, if you don't know how there is an easy tool called iFaith created by iPhone Hacker iH8sn0w , below is a video on how you can achieve that .

For all of you that want to Upgrade their baseband follow these steps :
1- Download the firmware that you want .
2- Download Redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 5 .
3- Connect the iPhone to the PC and launch Redsn0w as an Administrator .
4- Select Install Cydia + Install iPad Baseband .
5- Follow the steps to put the iPhone in DFU Mode then let it do its Job .
6- After the Jailbreak process is done open Cydia go to Search type in Ultrasn0w , then hit Install in the upper right corner .
7- Reboot your device and you are officially Unlocked .

WARNING :
If you Upgrade to iPad baseband 6.15.00 you will loose your warrant and also the GPS so think twice before you do the steps .

For those who don't want to wait for Redsn0w to download the baseband for them , do these steps :

Using this method, redsn0w will only take about 5 seconds to download it instead of the usual 3-4 minutes. If you have a slow internet connection, it will take even longer. Note: The Instructions below is for PC.
1. Download the following files:
2. Install Appserv. Follow on screen instructions. At one point, it will ask for name, enter any name you wish then create a password. After Installation you will see a new directory AppServ is created on your C drive.
3. Open C:\AppServ\www and create a folder name iPad.
4. Create another folder inside the iPad folder and name the folder as “061-8801.20100811.CvfR5” without the ” “.
5. Copy the iPad 3.2.2. IPSW into the 061-8801.20100811.CvfR5 folder.
5. Edit the host file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.

Note:
  • Windows 7 or Vista: Right click on Notepad and select Run as administrator, then open the host file.
  • Windows XP : edit the host file directly.
6. Copy and paste the following at the end of the line of the host file and hit save.
127.0.0.1 appldnld.apple.com
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
Now when you run redsn0w and selecting the Install iPad Baseband option, you will notice that it will take only 5 seconds (or less) for redsn0w to download it.
Reason: This setup tricks redsnow by fetching the baseband directly on your localhost (your Computer) through the help of Appserv Program .
